Why You Want These Home Inspector Tools:
Streamlight Stinger LED Rechargeable S75713: This flashlight has 350 lumens which is more than enough to do an inspection and it is light weight and small. As you do more inspections you will get a feel for if you want a wider beam pattern or just more light. This flashlight is not the brightest, but it comes with the same charging brackets as the brighter lights. In the future, you can upgrade your light (if you chose) without having to buy the charging brackets and cords. This light also has LED bulbs so you will not need to change out bulbs and it is tough. How tough? We have a video on our product page of someone using it as a hammer, of course we do not recommend that. The lens is an unbreakable polycarbonate lens with scratch resistant coating and the flashlight has a limited lifetime warranty.
Moisture Meter MMD7NP: This moisture meter is a starter moisture meter. It uses pinless technology to get a moisture reading up to 3/4" depth. This meter gives you a percentage reading and on a scale. It reads 0 to 53% for softwood and 0 to 35% for hardwood. This is ample amount of range for you to tell if an area has a moisture issue. This meter can also be used for relative moisture readings of drywall and masonry. Relative readings are useful because if you have an area you know is dry you can use that to compare with a questionable area. There are multiple moisture meters that are upgrades for home inspectors. Just give us a call if you would like to hear about them.
Infrared Thermometer IRT207: You have to have an infrared thermometer for home inspections and the big difference between them is the distance to spot ratio. The IRT2074 infrared thermometer has a ratio of 8:1. That means when you are 8 ft. from a wall you are measuring a 1 ft. circle area. This thermometer has a laser point that can be turned off and a backlit LCD display.
GFCI Receptacle Tester GFIRT: To do a home inspection you have to trip GFCI receptacles to indicate proper operation. This tester will detect open ground, open neutral, open hot, hot/ground reverse, hot/neutral reverse, or correct wiring. It works on 110 and 125V AC circuits.
AC Voltage Detector SANT: With this item you can determine the presence of 50 - 1000 volts in electrical wire, wall receptacles, fuses, junction boxes, and other electrical systems. This item is very handy and most inspectors carry them. Just a little tip, before you touch an electrical panel touch this to it to make sure you aren't going to shock yourself. Trust me its worth the extra 5 seconds.
Inspection Mirror GT70557: You will need a mirror for looking at serial numbers or behind furniture just saving yourself some effort in bending over to look at things. We also have lighted mirrors and telescoping mirrors if you would prefer.
Tool Bag CL230: You will need a bag to keep all your tools together and not have to walk out to your vehicle every time you need something. With this bag you get a light on it so if you are in an attic or a crawlspace you have a light attached so you can see into the bag. You get 29 pockets and a large pocket in the center so you can be organized or just keep everything together.
